About Me
Alex Bowie is not your typical college student. This 21-year-old junior at the University of South Carolina is seeking her B.A. in Public Relations and minor in Sociology with hopes of earning a master’s through USC’s Accelerated Masters Program. During her three years as a student, this Atlanta native joined Zeta Tau Alpha - Beta Omicron fraternity, has maintained her 3.53 GPA, been on the Dean’s List two semesters, received the Beyond Boundaries scholarship to study abroad during a summer semester, the IIE Grant to study abroad during Spring 2018, the Sims Scholar Award for USC’s out-of-state residents, and received the AP Scholar Award during her senior year of high school. She is hoping to study abroad at Charles University in Prague, Czechia during Spring 2018 in order to finish her minor. The next fall semester, Alex will be a University 101 Peer Leader - a program where she will be the co-instructor and mentor to 20 new students at USC. Alex has previously interned and freelanced at Bossip, an Atlanta-based entertainment news website where she managed the website and edited the work of the company’s journalists. She is currently striving to maintain employment in a creative environments, and is applying to intern at Atlanta’s High Museum of Art on their Public Relations team. Alex is a former singer of 6 years, pianist of 8 years, and competition dancer of 14 years from the Atlanta area. Dancing was a passion of hers, and she was a company member at Rhythm Dance Center, where she served as team captain for 2 consecutive years. Her volunteer work includes helping orphans prepare for prom at Promapalooza, shopping with underprivileged elementary school students for Christmas gifts at Shop With A Greyhound, and helping sort clothes out for those affected by the 2015 flooding in South Carolina. Her life is hectic and always kept busy, but when Alex get to relax she enjoys reading, shopping, exploring new places, and spending time with her family and friends.
