Being accepted to this program and having this opportunity to study living biology in an underwater environment would allow me to expand my learning in ways I've never imagined. As a biology student in SUNY Purchase, this program will count towards my degree completion with four upper-level credits. I will be conducting research and experiments in classroom, lab and field environments to learn more about the coral reef systems. During my stay, I will be certified in scuba diving which will take 3-4 days so I can get close to the organisms that dwell in the coral reef ecosystems.

Having hands-on work in this underwater ecosystem would allow me to encounter learning in an entirely different way. I am passionate about this program because I had the opportunity to travel to Matagalpa, Nicaragua a couple years ago and was capable of gaining skills that stuck with me the rest of my life. I believe this Coral Reef program will benefit me by preparing me towards a career as a Biologist.
