My Travel Story

Welcome to my fundraising page and thank you for popping by!

Just a quick introduction, my name is Cindy and I am from Singapore. Today, I am here to seek support from like-minded folks who are always looking for ways to make the world better in different ways. My vision is to help people to live better, find balance within themselves, thrive harmoniously with our environment, and empower those in need.

Agendas for this fundraising campaign: 
1) The main agenda here is to raise funds for my volunteering trip in Rajasthan, India with Volunteering with India. The objective of the program is to empower women by teaching them life skills and English. Depending on the funding outcome, I would love to volunteer for up to two weeks.  
2) Additionally, I hope to raise funds to further my studies on Yin Yoga, Ayurveda and Reiki Energy Healing in Rishikesh, India. Two of the courses are residential and run on stringent schedules from 6 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. daily for 2.5 weeks. I would require one week of external accommodation for Reiki Master healing training.  In total, they take about 3.5 weeks to complete. 

I am planning to carry out these plans in late February 2019 to end March 2019. 

Why I Decided to Be A Volunteer
Personally, I feel the most for the underprivileged women and children in the less developed countries. I believe that education and job opportunities are the main efficacious ways to truly empower them and lead them to their potential. Instead of simply donating money or doing ad-hoc volunteering, I hope to eventually create a social enterprise that would create employment and skills development opportunities for them. In order to do so, I have to get out of my comfort zone, be on the ground personally through volunteering to understand what they need essentially and discover business ideas can help them achieve a more independent living. 

The social enterprise that I aspire to build will advocate sustainable/green living, vegan lifestyle and social empowerment. During my free time in the volunteering program, I will do my best to immerse in the culture, understand the underprivileged community’s needs and scout for retail/manufacturing business opportunities. Ideally, I hope to manufacture unique products with the local resources, create a fund or donate with part of the business profits. 

Upon completion of the volunteering program, I will share my experience extensively on my social media platforms and blog to encourage others to partake in it. Hopefully, my personal recount will help to reduce the stereotypes about traveling in India too. 

Why Further Studies in Yin Yoga, Ayurveda, and Reiki Healing? 
Besides having the interest in assisting the underprivileged communities, I am passionate about helping metropolitan folks in seeking balance and wellness in their physical, mental and emotional states. After completing 500-hours of Hatha yoga teacher training and Reiki healer course, I saw through the rat race that I was living and the superficial lifestyle that I once desired to lead. I started to understand life beyond myself, and the importance of living with purpose and service.

Through these philosophies and practices, I found a new kind of peace and contentment within myself that I've never felt before. It made me realized how beneficial they can be to modern people especially when mental health issues are on the rise as most of us are leading a high-stress and hectic lifestyle. Therefore, I am motivated to increase my knowledge and teaching skills to impart what I’ve learned to help people improve their wellbeing from within. 

Upon completing these course, I will share my knowledge through my social media platforms and blog. Also, I look forward to conducting community classes when I return to my home country to benefit people facing social and mental health issues.

Why Do I Need Funding? 
As I am temporarily relocated overseas with my husband for his work purpose, I do not have a work visa in the country I’m currently residing in. Furthermore, I am not allowed to work during this period of time due to the contractual agreement. Without an income and after spending the bulk of my savings on my 500-hours yoga teacher training and Reiki healing course, I decided to seek help here to continue the pursuit of my dream. Even though these trips have its challenges, its huge positive impact on my life will definitely outweigh them. Also, I know that I will be able to pull through anything by thinking about the support and encouragements that I receive here. 

Any amount of donation will be dearly appreciated by me and spent wisely to make the full use out of it. Once my trips have concluded, I'll send out little thank you gift and personal handwritten note as a memento to my donors. Your warm donations will accelerate my personal development and provide me the opportunities to give back to the world sooner! :)
