Discovering a Different Culture in South Korea!
My Travel Story
I chose to study in Korea because I always found Korea to be an interesting place that I would love to visit. Asian culture is so different from the U.S. and I think it would be an interesting experience. Also, I love Korean food! There are so many foods that I want to try when I get to Korea like Samgyeopsal, Korean Barbeque, Bibimbap, Bulgogi, etc.
While I am in Korea I plan to make a difference by volunteering with an organization called KUSSO which is a social service organization. KUSSO has different operational service strategies and one of them is Educational Services: A social service organization that educates areas with low educational opportunities, children & youth educational mentoring programs for service targets (such as multicultural families, North Korean refugee youth families, broken home, etc.).
I am passionate about this project because I love to experience new cultures and discovering a different way of life and behavior. Which is why I minor in international studies. Also, ever since I heard about KUSSO I thought it would be a good opportunity for me to get experience related to my major and I can make a difference in the community at the same time. Except, in order to achieve my goals I have to be able to afford it financially and that's where I need help.
