It has been my dream to create a Non-profit organization. My idea is to go to villages and small towns in third world countries to find what each place creates as a representation of their culture. I want to take that art, sculpture, jewelry, or whatever the creation may be, and sell it worldwide. All profits would go to microfinancing, clean water projects, housing, and education in each individual village. Although a form of this may already exist, I want to focus on the culture, art, and ideas coming from each village or town. In order to make my dream reality I am attending Chico State University, majoring in business marketing, and minoring in art history and comparitive religion. It is important to have experience before creating my own business, and to start I will be applying as an intern for Greenpeace this fall. After speaking with a memeber of their staff for quite some time, she has made it clear that experience is a huge factor in getting hired. I am an avid backpacker, camper, and traveler, but I want to expand these traits into helping others and gaining experience. Nicaragua is my next big trip, and first opportunity to help and gain experience. While there, I will be analyzing their culture, religious beliefs, poverty level, and artistic expressions in order to further my research. I will be working with the Nicaragua Project, an organization that donates used athletic gear to Nicaraguan villages. And as a bonus I will be helping baby sea turtles venture into the sea for the first time. This trip is extremely important for my own experience, research, and future profession, but more than that it is extremely important for my ability to help others throughout my life. My passion is helping those in need and I intend on doing so for the rest of my life. This non-profit is my key to help people, and this Nicaragua trip is the first step to obtaining that key. I will be eternally grateful if you donate, give advice, suggestions, or anything of the sort. Thank you!

    Art
One of the cultural epicenters I will be seeing is the Leon Art Museum. This is one of the largest art museums in Central America. I hope to further my knowledge of Nicaraguan history and culture by going here. I will use that knowledge to build a basis on which to construct a relationship with Nicaraguan villages. By understanding a people's art, one can understand their feelings, cultural upbringing, world views, religion, and much more. My non-profit will focus a lot on artwork from different cultures, not only selling the art itself, but expanding the customer's own knowledge of the person who created the product and their separate culture. Hopefully by doing so Western culture can better understand different world views, and how people express their cultural ideologies in different ways.
