My Travel Story

My 4.0 and I are traveling! This year, I have the amazing opportunity to join VetsGoWild at the Amakhala Game Reserve in South Africa. The goal of this program is to expose those studying veterinary medicine (like me!) to conservation: what it means, what it takes, and the direct impacts it has globally. While this isn't directly related to my current focus on small animal medicine, I do have an interest in going into zoo medicine which is related to conservation in many ways. Having this experience under my belt would help my future career plans in so many ways, both personally and on paper: I will gain experience with many different animals in their natural habitats, have to opportunity to work on the wildlife I intend to care for long term, and I will gain a perspective that many will not have when applying to similar careers. I am excited to make this happen, and I hope to have you along for the journey!
