Malawi Outdoor Learning Resources Fundraising
My Travel Story
As some of you already know I am off to Malawi to volunteer in some rural pre-schools to introduce some of the principles of Forest School and creative outdoor learning to the children to see how they are received and also give the carers (generally non-qualified volunteers from the community) some basic training and support. My time will be spent working with disadvantaged, orphaned and vulnerable young children with very little in the way of resources, I aim to help to teach first time learners basic knowledge to help prepare them for school, in particular skills to build confidence, self esteem, problem solving and creativity to help instill a love of learning and for their natural world.
I will also be volunteering in the feeding program to provide porridge daily to aid malnourished children, record their weight and size and help them to clean their teeth.
I am hoping to raise some money before I go so that I can buy some of the essential resources I need for forest school and outdoor learning activities, so that I can take these with me. I would also like to be able to purchase some other educational resources. My parent friends have been a massive support by providing clothes but if you are not a parent of little ones or live further afield perhaps you could support me in this way instead. If you are nearby or will see me before I go, feel free to support me the old fashioned way so I don't lose 10% in admin fees!
