My Travel Story

Hello and welcome to my online fundraising campaign.

In February this year, I am going to Fiji for a 3 week volunteering placement! For me, this is truly a once in a lifetime trip which will enable me to share my knowledge and experience with others.  I'd also like to be able to give something back, learn new things and meet new people in the process.

I currently work as a Senior Childcare Practitioner for a small organisation which focuses on child centred practice.  In this role, I create exciting play and learning opportunities for all children.  I really feel that my experience in childcare, along with my positive and passionate nature, make me the ideal person to volunteer in Fiji working with children! 

It is my dream to be able to make a difference in children's lives whilst experiencing a culture different to my own and your donation will help me get closer to my goal.

  • Getting Closer To My Trip And My Target Amount

    Getting closer to my trip and my target amount
    Hi everyone,
    There has been quite a lot to report since my last update. First of all, many thanks for your continued support towards my trip.

    My Coffee Morning was very successful; there was a great turn out and my helpers worked extremely hard to make sure the event went smoothly. I raised over £300 which is a brilliant amount considering I'd never organised or hosted an event like this before. I also managed to organise a last minute bag packing event at a local supermarket to help raise a bit more money for my trip. I really enjoyed this event as it gave me a chance to mix with the local community and share my travel plans. This event helped me raise another £457.07 taking me even closer to my goal. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this event. I have another bag packing day planned for 11th February.

  • Update For 2017!

    Update For 2017!
    Hi all,
    I'd like to thank all of you who have donated towards my big trip! The response, particularly over the past month or so has been truly overwhelming!
    In particular, I'd like to thank my Auntie Gayle for her incredible donation as well as Stuart, Iain, Lainey and Susie and my Dad who have all made a massive contribution towards my trip. I have recently received an anonymous donation-thank you to the mysterious donor.

    Since my last update, my story has featured in the local newspaper, I have finalised my plans for the coffee morning which will take place on Saturday 21st January from 10am at the Legion in Thurso. There will be a baking stall, raffle and local entertainment from Mina Mackay's highland dancers.
    I have also filmed my fundraising video, with some help from my family, which will be featured on my campaign page by next week.

    My trip is getting closer-i'm counting down the days now!
    I'll keep you all updated on my progress.
