My Travel Story

This summer, for three weeks in August, I will be travelling abroad to London, UK, for a British cultural immersion and an acting intensive course—Ages and Stages of English Drama—at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, with thanks to organization Performing Arts Abroad, and RADA.  It has been on my dream board, to visit this city and school after doing my post-secondary research and planning for “the real world", otherwise known as adulthood, and it has been quite good fun for this courageous daydreamer with a determined drive.

RADA is arguably the most prestigious training centre for actors in the world, and that I get the opportunity to learn from teachers at this distinguished school sends me over the moon with happiness and excitement.  The intensive offers an enthralling and immersive journey through the history of English drama, giving me the opportunity to study and explore five different historical stages of drama (Mediaeval Drama, Restoration Comedy, Shakespeare's Theatre, Victorian Melodrama, and Contemporary British Theatre) that once won, and presently win, the heart of theatre go-ers.

This will be the first time that I will be venturing out in the world on my own and stepping into an international perspective, and though ecstatic about this opportunity to step outside of the world I grew up in to make new discoveries about myself and different cultures in other parts of the globe, I can’t deny that I am also terrified.  However, this is a huge step in growing up, and the chance to explore and acclimate myself with the city that may become my home in a couple years for a little while is an opportunity that comes locked with intangible value.

While in London, I will also be visiting prospect schools, one of which I will hopefully be an attending student at in the very near future.

“Don’t you find it odd,” she continued, “that when you’re a kid, everyone, all the world, encourages you to follow your dreams.  But when you’re older, somehow they act offended if you even try.” — Ethan Hawke, The Hottest State

  • Thank You, Jeanelle And All! <3

Thank you, Jeanelle and all! <3

I left my scarf at my friend Jeanelle's house the other day, and today she came to over to my house to drop it off.  It was very sweet of her <3.  That wasn't the only thing she brought with her, though.  She also came bearing a lovely card stocked with cute photos, thoughtful messages, and a kind donation of $100 to my travel fund.  I always find myself pleasantly amazed by the goodness of another's heart towards me.  The hope is always there for good to come, but I don't expect these things, so this is one kind of surprise that always catches me off guard that I don't mind it at all.  How did I get so lucky to have met and befriend such supportive, encouraging, thoughtful, loving...the list goes on... people?! :)

Thank you to all who have been following me on this journey and who have helped me with this by sharing and donating.  You all make me so overwhelmed with happy emotions.  I love you *BEAR HUG*
