Help Support Chelsey's Service Learning in Guatemala!
My Travel Story
As a participant of the program, I will be living in San Juan, Guatemala with a host family for seven weeks. While abroad, I will be taking Spanish courses and volunteering in a store, helping women weavers earn money in a fair trade organization. Through my interactions, I will be able to explore the correlation between poverty and education. Approximately 80% of the population earns only $2 a day and women have very few opportunities to make money. I feel this experience will be invaluable to me as a future social worker, advocate for social injustice, and policy lawyer.
I have until May 15th to raise the additional funding, $2500, needed for the program cost. This amount includes tuition and fees, textbooks and supplies, and personal expenses. All donations, regardless of the size, will be greatly appreciated. Please support me in achieving this goal!
