INSTALL SOLAR PANELS AT THE CAP ZONE RURALE SCHOOL IN CAMEROON

- to secure supply and creating a hub for sharing knowledge within the field

CAP Zone Rurale (CZR) stands for  Centred’Assistance et de Promotion and has the purpose of supporting girls in their right to an education and self-supply. The organization has for more than ten years organized education to prepare girls for a profession, within for example IT and the restaurant business. Allowing the women and girls to bring their children to school has also supported single moms’ right to an education. Over the years have CZR included more than 600 girls in their program

The classes at the girl school in Bandja used to be conducted in rented buildings up until 2012 when the construction of self-owned buildings started. This included facilities for both theoretical classes and practical workshops. The building has a 3-phase connection to the grid. However the local grid is very unpredictable and not trustworthy which motivates the need for solar panels to be installed.

In parallel to the ambition to improve the supply of electricity at the School there is also a vision to create a renewable energy education center in Bandja. This idea is supported by a national strategy of working towards a development of renewable energy while encouraging initiatives to develop technical competences and applicable knowledge. The installations of solar panels on the school in Bandja will be a startup of this renewable energy center and a first step to gather competences for the future educational programs in solar and wind induced electrical power, among others.

To help realize this project have we in Engineers without borders Sweden, decided to support the school through the first steps in starting up the educational center and installing the first solar panels. To make this possible we now ask for your support. Please donate as little or much as you want to help us implementing this project in western Cameroon. If you have any questions about the project or its execution please contact us on projekt@ingenjorerutangranser.se Thank you!
