My Travel Story

Hello! 
I am a junior at Seattle Pacific University and this summer I have the awesome opportunity to study abroad in Scotland and Ireland! The trip will be a global seminar focusing on Celtic history, literature, and culture. I am currently pursuing a degree in English and Creative Writing, and this will be a once in a lifetime chance for me to study one of the oldest cultures in the Western world, especially deepening my understanding of the power of story, and the way we use story not only to communicate, but to establish our place in human history. 

I will also in part be studying the tragic history of religious sectarian division and violence in these countries, and get to meet with people and organizations that are working towards reconciliation and bridging the gaps between people that this history has caused. I am really looking forward to this trip not only as a chance to experience these countries and learn about them, but also a chance to be involved in the ongoing peacemaking efforts in countries that are divided by sectarianism.
