Missouri Grad Students to Cape Town!
My Travel Story
In a few short weeks, myself and a dozen other graduate students at the Missouri School of Journalism will travel to Cape Town, South Africa to capture and share the stories of life in the country since the fall of apartheid. When I learned of the opportunity, I immediately knew it was a project I needed to be a part of.
We will be meeting and interviewing some of the people who worked directly with Nelson Mandela, exploring Robben Island where Mandela served his sentence and immersing ourselves in the daily lives of those adjusting to a new government, all while truly putting the skills learned at Missouri to work. Our team will be shooting, writing, editing, interviewing, blogging, the whole gamut, and I am so excited to share our work with all of you as it is completed. In addition to my formal projects, I plan to keep an active blog throughout the entire experience.
The team is a talented one, and I feel so fortunate to travel and learn with them in the coming weeks.
This opportunity, however, comes with a price tag not fully fundable by extra shifts at KOMU 8 News and student loans. For anyone interested in sharing in this experience with me, I would be truly grateful for any kind support.
