Public Health Study Abroad - Down Under!
My Travel Story
After several years away from school, I returned to college to finally finish my BS in Health Education and Health Promotion. I plan to work in a Public Health setting to improve the physical, mental, and emotional health and fitness of the communities I will serve.
Being a non-traditional student as an Active Duty Soldier, a wife, and mom of two boys, I thought I had missed out on the opportunity to study abroad in college; Not true! I have the support of my coworkers, leaders, and family to pursue this amazing opportunity and I couldn't be happier in this moment!
This trip is an well-planned, comprehensive, University-sanctioned trip to visit various facets in the Public Health departments in Melbourne and Brisbane, meet the Australian leaders in the field, and experience a culture similar to ours yet so different. Some of the exceptional opportunities include:
-Royal Flying Doctor Service Hangar and Tour
-Queensland Department of Health and Human Nutrition Visit
-Indigenous Healthcare Orientation
-Victoria Department of Health and Human Services Briefing
-The Victoria Health Promotion Foundation Visit
-Discussions with Australia's leading public health experts
Along with the six credits I will earn toward my degree, I expect to gain extraordinary insight into public health, international partnership, and myself as I embark on this exciting opportunity.
I am seeking funding to help bridge the gap between my financial aid and the program fee and also to help with my airfare expenses.
Your support would make a world of difference in my life, the life of my family, and those I will serve as a Public Health Professional for years to come.
Thank you for joining me on this endeavor!
