My Travel Story

Traveling has always been a passion of mine. I want to see the world and all it has to offer. I'm always up for a trip outside the US or even just a roadtrip to the nearest beach.

Throughout my childhood I've traveled across the world with my family. Georgia, New York, Germany, Mexico, Honduras, California, Austria to name a few. To continue on with the list this fall I will traveled to Boone, North Carolina to the next chapter of my life: Appalachian State University.

During a family vacation during December of 2012, on one of the last stops of our Christmas cruise, I found myself on a bus out to the middle of the rainforest in Belize, Central America. As we drove through several small villages, I saw things I had never seen before; women washing their clothes in the river, children running around with no shoes and very little clothing, and asking for food. That single bus ride has changed my life and my perspective on the world. That day sparked my passon for service and volunteering. I love the feeling that I am making a difference in not only my community but the world.

Every time I have ever traveled in life it has been for my family and I. This time however, I will travel for a greater cause than just myself. I will travel to make this world a better place for someone else. To make the world better than I found it.

I hope to travel to Guatemala the first week of January 2015. I will spend my time there working in an orphange where many children are affected by poor home life, little to no schooling and alcohol or drug abuse among their families. I will work in rehabilitation clinics with disabled children, schools, daycare centers, and orphanages. I will be staying with a very generous host family who is willing to open up their home to me and aid in the absorption of Guatemalan culture. I have a passion for learning and I believe there is so much to learn from those around us. I want to show that there are people out there who still care about the world.
I want to show it's not too late for my generation or the next. I want to show everyone that one person can make a difference. I want to make a difference.

I'm using social media to spread this site and to raise funds for my trip. If you can spare any amount of money I would greatly appricate it. Not all of my blessings are from luck. They are from you. Those who support me on all my adventures. My friends and my family. As always, I thank you so much.
