The value of education is something that I have understood since a very young age. Neither of my parents had an opportunity to attend college, and faced many struggles in their personal and professional lives because of this. They made a commitment early in my life to do everything within their power to instill in me a love of learning and an understanding of the importance of hard work and dedication. Because of their love and sacrifice over the years, I have been able to devote the time and energy necessary to stay focused on my academics and knowing the fact that there are many opportunities in the world.

My main purpose and motivation for learning Spanish is because it will enable me to keep pace with the Hispanic influence on culture, which is very strong and getting stronger every day. Spanish is becoming more and more important with regards to business. Learning Spanish will also help me to better communicate with Spanish speaking employees or co-workers. As for job opportunities, it certainly wouldn't hurt to have Spanish on my resume. Today in the United States, knowing Spanish can be particularly helpful being the fact that I would liked to work in the healthcare and education field. 

I am very much interested in studying in Spain because I want that life-changing experience that will not just limit me to the class room, videos, television, etc. In my opinion there is no greater or more effective way to learn a language than to study it in a country where it is spoken. I want to be able to learn things about the world that I could not learn here in the United States. Hopefully, I would be able to come back from Cadiz, Spain with new ideas and a whole new perspective on life, culture and myself. All I want is to be successful and significant at the things that I love. I know that with this opportunity, it will definitely challenge and strengthen me in all the areas I need help in.

What I hope to gain from participating in this program is to have embraced, learned and appreciated more about the culture. Just getting a first-hand experience of the day-to-day life of a new living environment for me would be an incredible experience to be a part of.
