The Basic Art of Italian Cooking by Maria Liberati (tm) is a National PBS TV Series devoted to culinary travel and discovering cultural meanings in food through the people of any given region in Italy, most of the small towns we will be discovering on the series are hidden gems rich with culinary heritage tied to the culture.

Through the award winning companion book series of the same name, a cultural exchange of information and further understanding of the roles that culture and history plays in the importance of Italian food and wine i s explored and shared through recipes and travel stories. All of this is done in an entertaining manner through experiencing the places and the people of these places. There is also a companion blog series that was selected as Culinary Travel Blog of the Year by the NY Travel Writers's Society.

The first season will be 13 episodes filmed throughout Italy. The episodes will begin running as soon as all 13 episodes are filmed and edand will be broadcast throughout PBS stations around the USA and the CREATE Network.

The funds gained on FUNDMYTRAVEL assist with travel for cast/crew for series filming as well as for researching regions of Italy for pre production filming and the companion book series development.

The experience will help me to bring to an American and world audience parts of the culinary heritage of Italy. My book series is not just a cookbook, it is about connecting the food and recipes to a rich culinary and cultural heritage and educating in an entertaining way. Once the first season is completed we will also be exploring other countries and Italian food in other countries and its' relationship to the cultural richness of that country but also exploring other cultures and food tied to those cultures.
