My Travel Story

Support the Herzing Family as they seek to travel after Dan's diagnosis of Stage IV Lung Cancer (NSCLC-ADCA).

Having completed 6 rounds of platinum chemotherapy and currently doing maintenance chemo, Dan Herzing is doing well and the cancer is stable. Plans to travel are exciting and invaluable now that he is well enough to do so.

The family's first goal is to take their 4 year old son, Raine, to Disneyland in Anaheim, California. They look forward to the excitement and joy of watching Raine experience such a special place. He will especially be excited to meet Donald & Mickey, McQueen & Mater, Elsa & Olaf, and Buzz Lightyear!

Raised funds will provide 3 plane tickets, transportation to and from the airport, a hotel room, Disneyland & Disney California Adventure park tickets with hopper passes, and an additional small amount for souvenirs and food. 

This trip is tentatively planned for October 2015.

The family's second goal is to travel abroad, something they have never done together! Dan and Leah traveled abroad separately before they were married. Their travels inspired them and they hoped to travel abroad one day together. Help their dream come true!

The Herzings will stay with lifelong family friends who live and teach in Rabat, Morocco. Raine will be able to enjoy the beach and playing with friends, and Dan and Leah will be able to do some sight-seeing and have a "date night" with loved ones there to watch Raine. :) Raine has begun understanding geography and finds it fascinating and fun. While Africa isn't Disneyland, they know he will treasure his memories traveling abroad, too!  

Raised funds will provide 3 plane tickets to Marrakesh. Funds will also cover passport fees & vaccinations, snacks and souvenirs, as well as transportation and lodging for an excursion to Southern Europe.

This trip is being tentatively planned for Spring 2016.

  • THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

    Thank you again to all of our donors and to our new recent ones, including Dan's high school class, who have sent a check for funds raised at their 20th class reunion. Our Disney trip is nearly ENTIRELY paid for! We leave this week already...We are all getting really excited for some warm weather, relaxation poolside, and two days of park excitement! We will be sharing updates AND sending out postcards to those of you who we have a mailing address for.

    Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your recent donations! We have also had some off-line donations delivered by snail mail, so our total is actually at $900!!! We are just nearly at the halfway mark for funding Disneyland! Raine is so excited for this trip...We will soon start counting down the days!
