My Travel Story

Dear Everyone,
      I have decided to go out of my comfort zone and take the time I have off to give back to the world. After making this decision I took my time to ask what it was that I could do to make a difference and give back. After some time I realized childcare was what I wanted to do. Children mean everything not only to me as a teacher but to the future of the world. I want to spread love, joy, kindness, and compassion along with fostering each child's developmental needs. Every person matters and can make a difference so why can't I!
      Choosing my placement for volunteering with children was one of the hardest parts of this process so far. I knew I wanted and needed to go and volunteer but where do I go? How do I choose? After talking with several people, doing hours of research, and reading reviews I chose Mombasa, Kenya. It fits me, and it is completely out of the box for me. Truth be told, it scares me in a way that excites me. It was not easy but once I found it I knew that where i should go.
     To be a part of making a difference seems special and eye opening, however, without the help of the people around me I may not be able to get there. Please support me and help me raise the funds needed to make this impact on the children in Kenya. Flying to Africa and the accomidations for the 4 weeks I will be staying there is expensive. I would also like to bring gifts (i.e. useful toys, games, books, etc.) to the children, to support their growth as individuals. This is how I will make a mark on someone elses life other then myself, and grow as a human being and teacher.

P.S. I can't thank everyone enough for their help in this endevor. I feel a great calling to help these children and couldn't be more excited to work with the children and community in Mombasa, Kenya!
