My Travel Story

The Vet Experience volunteer program in Chintsa East, South Africa will be a trip of a lifetime for me! I am already in my career field studying to be a Veterinary Nurse and applying to animal hospitals to get more hands on experience. This volunteer program offers many learning aspects to my career such as hands on experiences, training on how to use dart guns to sedate wild animals, pig artificial insemination, cattle pregnancy and other large and exotic animal health concerns, small animal clinic workshops, community outreach, and also having free time to experience the African culture. During my 2 weeks in South Africa I will not only be volunteering, but also getting a broader education experience for me to take back home and use in school and my every day life. This program will help me build my career resume, as well as set me up to obtain more resources and opportunities to volunteer and study abroad in other countries in the future. Through this program I will become a "Global Ambassador", and I will be able to help assist and encourage other determined and animal loving students to apply for this program as I did. I am passionate about this project because I am increasing my knowledge of my career field, while volunteering, while doing what I love, which is helping and loving on animals. This project is meaningful to me because this will be my first time going somehwere internationally, and I will be doing what I love and what I intend to do for the rest of my life!
