My Travel Story

by: Victoria Hom Start Date: Jul 1, 2017 - End Date: Jul 22, 2017
Hello my dear friends and family! This summer I will be traveling to Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shanghai China on a scholarship through the China – United States Exchange Foundation. During my stay in China I will be studying Chinese language, history, culture, economic development in universities such as Beijing Language and Culture University and Beijing Foreign Studies University.

As a multiracial Chinese-American woman of color, studying Chinese culture and language has been one of the most important missions in my life.  My understanding of Chinese culture cannot be separated from my understanding of a Chinese-American immigrant experience as my family stems from one. Ever since I was a young girl, exploring my identity through my cultural heritage and history has been a fascinating, yet challenging experience. As a student majoring in Ethnic Studies (with a concentration in Asian-American Studies) and Health Education, I believe this study abroad program will serve as an invaluable asset to my personal, academic, and long term career goals. The first-hand experience in various prominent universities in commercially successful cities such as Beijing, Hangzhou and Shanghai will allow me to further explore Chinese history, culture, and language in a deeper manner. I wholeheartedly believe that in order to fulfill my future academic, personal and career endeavors, understanding modern China in conjunction with my current experience as a multiracial woman from a Chinese-American background would be a necessary and insightful component.

In order to further expand my educational horizon in China, your help and support is needed. In addition to earning money by organizing a fundraiser party, I’m asking for crowdfunding support. Please contribute what you can. Every bit counts. If you’re unable to contribute don’t forget to share with your network of friends and family!

菊花九杞茶 (Chrysanthemum and Goji Berry) – Additional $1

Lazy Kitty: (This tea blend contains a mixture of herbs that are both kitty and human safe.) Herbs such as chamomile and catnip are best known for helping one to get a good nights rest. This herbal blend also contains anti-inflammatory and immune boosting properties while addressing a number of other issues such as stomachaches and anxiety.
Lazy Kitty is great for human and kitties alike who want to get a good nights rest. (Although many cats get excited over the smell of catnip once they ingest it the catnip has a calming effect on our furry loved ones.)

Floral Kitty: (This tea blend contains a mixture of herbs that are both kitty and human safe.) Floral Kitty contains the same herbal blend as Lazy Kitty but with a floral touch of flowers such as marigold.
Floral Kitty is a mood-elevating blend that also addresses stress, anxiety, depression and stomach aches.

Spicy Action: This herbal spice blend contains antioxidant ingredients such as green tea, black pepper, cinnamon and cardamom that help to boost metabolism, promote circulation, and aid digestion.
Drink plain, or add sweetener and milk to taste. (Sometimes I add a little bit of coconut or almond milk and honey)

So Fresh and So Clean: Contains three varieties of mint. Herbs such as Mexican mint (also known as Cuban oregano and Mexican thyme) are anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal. So Fresh and So Clean herbal blend also contains ingredients that help to ease digestion as well as boost memory retention, concentration and mental clarity.

Hyper Kitty: (This tea blend contains a mixture of herbs that are both kitty and human safe.) Hyper Kitty contains herb valerian, which helps to wake and excite your kitty-- an alternative to catnip, without the calming affects after ingestion; however, valerian has the opposite effect on humans, which is promoting relaxation. Other herbs such as dandelion root promote liver and digestive health.

*For humans: This tea should not be used for more than 2 weeks. Take a break, about a week, before resuming daily consumption.

*For cats: This is great as an occasional treat when it is dried; however, Hyper Kitty brewed tea should not be consumed on a daily basis. Please take caution when introducing the tea to your fuzzy loved one. Consider everything in moderation

No BS: This tea blend is great for when you’re just not having it with life or people’s BS. No BS contains herbs such as rosemary and white sage that help to clear out toxins from the body. This herbal blend also helps with circulation and has antibacterial and antimicrobial agents.

No BS can be sipped as an everyday tea or even brewed as a hair rinse to stimulate hair growth.

菊花九杞茶(Chrysanthemum and Goji Berry): This chrysanthemum and goji berry tea contains antioxidants that are beneficial for tired eyes and protect the liver. This blend contains chrysanthemum, which helps to remove heat from the body and address cough.

This tea blend is great to drink hot or cool with a touch of honey during hot summer weather.
All herbal blends are handcrafted, and curated by me
