By kicking me out of the country and sending me to Belize, I'll have the chance to interact with new cultures, practice my spanish, and be involved in amazing research opportunites. I am so excited to have the opportunity to study abroad, and I can hardly wait to immerse myself in a world vastly different from my own. I chose to go to Belize after taking a viewing a wider world course at New Mexico State University. I never thought I would take such an interest in entomology, but after learning about bugs and their impacts on humans and the environment (and after diversifying my taste pallat with a few,) I found myself "bugging" for more. I student teach in the fall of 2016, and I believe the experiences I have during this trip abroad will help me to connect on a deeper level with many of my future students. Being a first generation student myself, I believe it is important to serve as a physical reminder of what you can accomplish if you work hard to achieve your dreams.
