Hello all! At the end of August, I’m leaving for a once in a lifetime adventure - teaching English to children in Austria. I’ll be living and working in Austria for five and a half months as a student-teacher for The English Teacher Training College and its associated Bilingual Classroom Initiative (ABCi). ABCi is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to provide practical teaching experience to student teachers and is also a charity outreach program, to promote language learning and cultural exchange. I’ll be working from 7am-1pm each weekday teaching young learners throughout Austria, and in the evenings I will attend lectures, plan lessons and complete course assignments. In total, I'll be working ten hours each day. The program allows me to, freely, gaining the Trinity CertTESOL certificate and CELT-P accreditation - the last steps in my journey to become an ESL teacher. I will also receive free accommodation and basic dry food supplies. In return, I will work as a full-time ESL teacher in Austrian school, gaining almost 300 hours teaching experience.

This is a fantastic opportunity, and I am so excited to go. As I will be working unpaid for almost 6 months whilst working towards achieving my dreams there are certain costs I will need to cover. As well as flights and normal expenditure (food etc.) I also need to make sure I have enough funds in my account to cover the bills I have at home (Ma student loan etc.). The total cost will be around £4000. Any and all help that I receive to offset the costs would be greatly appreciated and put to good use. I love being able to better my own life, whilst working to enrich the lives of children and I am so grateful for all the help I have received on my journey thus far.
