Social Change in Colombia 2018!
My Travel Story
The program, Mobility Medellin, Colombia: Art, Research, and Social Change, focuses on the displaced residents of Manantiales de Paz, a community built in the mountains of Medellín. Built from scratch only six years ago, this community was created by Colombians who were forced to flee their homes due to war and violence, and had nowhere else to go. We will be travelling to Manantiales de Paz to take photos and videos of the community and the people living there, and helping to provide a platform in which they can share their incredible stories.
I want to learn as much as possible about other people and the way that they live and see the world, because I feel that this understanding is what bridges the gap between people from different backgrounds and allows relationships to flourish. As a journalism major who wants to go into photojournalism or documentary filmmaking, this program is perfect for my academic and personal goals, and I would love the chance to allow the people of Manantiales de Paz to share their stories in their own words.
Thank you!
