Studying abroad has always been a dream of mine. When I first started classes at UCD, I planned on studying abroad in Australia or New Zealand, neither or which I was able to financially commit to. Yet, I have been given the opportunity to study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, which I could not pass up. Not only is it a design centered study abroad program, but also Copenhagen is the capitol of Design, itself.

Studying in Copenhagen will help me further my understanding of behavioral design, as it is extremely popular in Denmark. The style of design in Copenhagen is known through-out the design industry, and having the experience of studying Danish design will give me the education I need to become a stronger designer.

This program is only an 18 day program, which is a huge reason why I am able to make this dream possible. I have already purchased my airfare, yet I am needing some help with affording the program itself! This experience counts as 3 total classes for me, two studio arts electives, and one International Prespectives class. By making this study abroad happen, I will be able to graduate from the University of Colorado Denver with a BFA in Digital Design! It's been a long 6 years, while I intially started as a freshman working towards a Business Management degree. Through out my journey at UCD, I have found a true passion for design.

Born and raised in San Francisco, CA., I'd love to say I’m a Northern Californian, yet I've spent the last 10 years in Boulder, CO. I’ve been fortunate enough to have lived in some extremely interesting areas, which have given me an open perspective on the world, its logistics, and how humans communicate and develop as a culture. The city (San Francisco) gave me a huge cultural lens on many different demographics.

Street art has always influenced me, while it's pure expression, which communities tend to cohesively relate to. Design should speak at similar levels; it needs to express a certain end goal, which a community can relate to as a whole. Design consumes me. I wouldn't live my life any differently, while I truly do what I love, and I’ve become quite the ‘workaholic’. User Experience design (UX) brings meaning to my passion, it inspires me to not design for aesthetics, yet to design for the benefit of a community. I have always wanted to improve the community where I live, and I hope my designs will do so in the future to come.

When I am not reading about design, or working on projects, I like to be outdoors. My heart belongs to my Jeep Wrangler, and my Pit-bull, Beta Karova. In my free time, I head out to the eastern plains of Colorado for some joy riding, and adventure. I enjoy the peace and quiet of the eastern plains; it helps me balance other busy and loud aspects of my life with a quick getaway.

Thanks for reading! I hope to save up enough to make this experience come true!
