Ellie's Elephant Adventure!
My Travel Story
I will be spending 6 days a week dedicating my time to these magnificent species, which are on the brink of extinction and desperately need our help as a result of our negative impact on their habitat.
The sanctuary cares for approximately 10 elephants; most of which have been domesticated. This is where elephants are taken from their herds and used in the tourist industry for activities such as elephant riding, logging and photos. The elephants are likely to be beaten, starved of food and water and confined to a 2 meter chain.
My purpose of doing this volunteer project is to help give these individuals the love, care and freedom which they truly deserve for the remainder of their life. The project will also give me a chance to have an insight as to the kind of job which I would love to have after in complete my University degree where I will be studying Conservation Biology.
A lot of people believe that it is too late to save elephants and other critically endangered species from extinction, however it is my firm belief that if we all persevere and contribute (no matter how big or small), we can reverse the devastating impacts that our actions have had on these awe-inspiring creatures.
I do not want the next generation growing up to not know what an elephant or a tiger is, and therefore I want to make this goal a reality.
