Hello! I am a first-generation college student in my first year of graduate school. I am studying counseling psychology, and a big part of why I chose my program was due to the emphasis on multiculturalism! I was unable to study abroad as an undergraduate student due to the cost. Now that I am in school again, I think studying abroad would be a worthwhile experience and would add a fantastic layer to my understanding of multiculturalism - specifically in that I would be experiencing multiculturalism first-hand. This trip is set for summer of 2018.

There is a lack of diversity in my future career field, and I plan to use all of my graduate experiences to the best of my ability. I understand that this opportunity I have to learn at an advanced educational level is not one that is always afforded to others like myself, so I plan to use this opportunity to the best of my ability. The benefits of this trip will surely carry with me into my future professional career.

This study abroad program allows for me to study psychology in the context of South Africa. Particularly Cape Town and Johannesburg. I think for CT and Joh. themselves, there is so much difference in both cultures. To a person interested in multiculturalism, being able to go and see how different cultures impact the daily lives of individuals from those places is an amazing experience that I cannot pass up.

I am 100% dedicated to going on this trip, all I need is to meet the financial requirement. I hope that you are for this initiative, and I deeply appreciate any form of support. Thank you for reading!
