My Travel Story

First, let me introduce myself. I am Yammy Fan and I am 17 years old, come from Hong Kong. I decided to volunteer in a Wildlife Sanctuary in Free State, South Africa around April/May in 2016. You may wonder that why I need to start fundraising so early? But got to prepare everything earlier, right? :)

I have joined many volunteer programs in HK helping animals and the unprivileged. I have always been enthusiastic towards animal and environment so I wanted to travel overseas to a place which is far away from HK and be a volunteer. Overseas volunteering, something that I have never experienced before. As you know, the competition of university degree in Hong Kong is really intense, my target is to join the university to study the Ecolgy and Biodiversity and animal conservation. Therefore, joining this volunteer programme can greatly rise my chances in order to study my dream subject. On top of that, I am an animal lover, working with animals is always my dream and travelling to South Africa which I have long desired to go. Once I can go to South Africa, I can learn more about the environment as well as the animal conservation. As I am going to assist with research efforts and data collection, help to improve the facilities there, help with breeding in order to repopulate some big cat species as their numbers are rapidly declining.... etc. I am sure that these chances must be once-in-a-lifetime and are really special to me.

Glad to know that this program not just helps to boraden my horizon, but will also do genuinely help to better the South Africa environment and the population of big cats. I will even gain fieldwork skills and interpersonal skills which will help me throughout my life. Your generous donation will help to raise money for the flights to Free State and some local travel expenses.   • WWF Run For Change

    WWF Run For Change
    On the day which Earth Hour lasted, my friend and I participated the charity run "Run For Change" organized by World Wild Fund (WWF) and we won the 2nd runner-up in the student team!!! Run For Change is a charity run that echoes the Earth Hour and raises money to protect the environment. My friend and I totally raised HKD1500 for it! I always participate in charity walk and run. Hope this can help you decide whether you should donate money to me or not ;)

    I really love the environment and I want to protect them! So please donate and send me to South Africa to help the big cats:) Thank you!
