Thank you for visiting my fund my travel page. My name is Chloe Walpole and I am currently in my second year at The University of Westminster studying Psychology. On the 26th of June 2016 I am flying to Sri Lanka on a five week work placement volunteering with the organisation SLV. SLV is a voluntary organisation set up in 2010 by Lucy Nightingale, a psychology graduate and Yasintha Rathnayake, a youth worker in Sri Lanka. SLV runs projects to help the local community while offering students experience in a completely different culture. I will be working on the special needs placement with children and adults with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and challenging behaviour taking part in activities to improve their cognitive functions, motor and speech skills. This is an amazing opportunity which will help me gain new skills whilst enhancing existing ones. I am particularly interested in field of psychology and I am hoping to one day have a career in it with this being the beginning of many volunteering experiences I wish to take part in. I am hoping to raise money through donations and fundraising to cover some of my costs of both the placement (£1,100) and flights (£430). Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
