About Me
"REFUGEES OF RAP" It was in 2007, in Yarmouk, a Palestinian refugee camp south of the Syrian capital that the two brothers, Yaser and Mohamed Jamous created the group "Refugees of rap". Passionate about urban culture and music, their work originates from the world of hip-hop. (further define style and influences) From 2009, due to the political context in Syria, the texts of the two brothers become more engaged. From their collaboration several artistic projects are born. From 2007 to 2012 the group performed concerts and performed in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon. At the same time two albums were released in 2010 and 2014 and are the result of various collaborations (Tamer Nafar (DAM), Tarabband, Linda Bitar etc.) In their words Yaser and Mohamed give a glimpse of life in the Yarmouk camp, denounce the experience of the Syro-Palestinian population in the grip of a climate of war. Inspired by their daily life and the political context in Syria, the two brothers sing their revolt as witnesses to the injustices and violence experienced by their people. But their word is inconvenient, and the two brothers are threatened and forced into exile in 2013. It is in France that their voice is welcomed and is heard. The songs of "Refugees of rap" are tinged with messages of peace but also speak about more intimate subjects like exile. Since their arrival in Europe until today, the group has performed in several festivals, participated in several artistic and associative projects (France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Morocco) (Quartiers d'été 2015 (Rennes), Roskilde Festival (Denmark 2017), IMA 2017 night of poetry, Fête de HUMA 2016 2017 and)
